19th Support Group Meeting

Support Group Meeting #19 was held on January 28, 2020, at 630PM at the University of Miami Hospital U-Health Tower, in room 2026, the Board of Directors’ meeting room.
We were so pleased that 28 people were able to join us at this meeting and were happy that so many patients were in attendance. It was a great way to start off the new year.
Maria Mayfield, Territory Manager of Ostomy Care from Coloplast Corp.,was our speaker. Coloplast was the originator of the world’s first disposable ostomy bag with an adhesive ring. They have been in business over 60 years and have expanded to include wound, skin, continence and interventional urology divisions. Maria’s topic was “New Technology on Ostomy Products”. She had a beautiful way of presenting her information and, after taking questions from everyone at the end of her presentation, stayed after the meeting and generously met individually with many of the participants. She passed out a “Life After Ostomy” booklet and gave out some ostomy samples to the patients who wanted them. She has graciously given us her power point presentation to post on our website. We would like to thank Maria and hope that she comes back soon.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious refreshments provided by Pedro Figalla from Med Supply and Miami Ostomy Aftercare.

Our next Support Group meeting will be our “Valentine Meeting” held on Tuesday, February 25th at the UM U-Health Tower, room 2026 at 630PM.
